If you’re gonna play, you’re gonna pay…

I’ve put a few miles on the last two days, quit a bit on gravel. In my past I worked for Goodyear tire, I know a few things about tires. I know before I left on this trip that even though I only had 20k on my tires, the tires were almost 5 years old. It was time to replace. I choose Goodyear because they have a proven history off-road with heavy testing for the military. Well, that didn’t pan out for me I guess. Looks like I have a stone rupture which can be repaired, problem is that repair 1 1/2 hours away. That’s life and it will work out. My only fear is my off-roading and gravel roads have just begun. Guess we’ll see, I may be changing a lot of tires, like in days gone by.

Yesterday’s drive…

Yesterday was a long drive including a detour to the International Peace Garden. Can’t say enough about this place, even though it’s been too cold for the annuals, the gardens and buildings are amazing. They have a cacti collection from around the world that is hard to explain. The colors and shapes of these plants will cause pause, I took probably too many photos but I guess that’s what it’s about.

Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do…

Last nights stay was a real dandy. I stayed in a parking lot behind a bar in Fortuna, ND. There is absolutely nothing anywhere near this place. I did eat at the bar with a few farm hands in place and it was actually really good, the food that is. The conversation was interesting to say the least. I’m happy I’m able to talk farm, at least I think I can fake it pretty good. I understand heavy equipment and farm equipment.

And today’s drive…

Today was a relatively short drive, about 3.5 hours through some of the most beautiful country. I’d share photos but I haven’t downloaded them yet. That resource is close to ready with Flickr as my shared host.

Grasslands National Park

I have two hikes lined up, one is guided by a park ranger. Amazing place with a lot of Native history. I’ll share more in days to come.

As I’ve said before, if you haven’t subscribed yet please do, you’ll receive my updates right to your inbox. I appreciate the “likes”, they encourage me to write as each segment plays out, and the best is yet to come.

All my best…Until next time…Peace!

Jim – I’m enjoying the updates. Hopefully the tire issues are behind you. I drove to Florida and back with nails in my tires (although not on a big truck w/camper). Stay safe!
