Adventure begins with one step outside your comfort zone.

The trip has begun. 5-plus years of planning, buying, testing, readjusting, and so-on. I believe we all know our comfort zone, but what does it take you, and how do you adjust, when you cross that point? I’ve always been a bit adventurous, willing to take chances, usually until it hurts. Ask my wife about the many trips to the hospital and long recoveries in our years together. I know my daughter can tell a wild story about a motorcycle on a logging road that ended with a long recovery that still hurts up to this day at times. I like to take chances, reach over the line, touch the live wire just for the thrill of it. This trip is one of those reaches.

Wheels are turning…

The first day drive was an easy one, no traffic and very familiar. There’s no better place to start than at a place I’ve known my entire adult life. Mom and dad built a getaway many years ago that family still enjoys to this day.

My roadtrip requires a short journey on one of the America’s continental highways, Highway 2. From the cabin I’m just a short drive to that pathway headed west. I’ll spend two nights here and then move on.

Joe Camel is in the house…

I’m hoping I don’t see too much of this, but I’m in the haze today, and not purple haze… Those who remember pre-1980’s can relate to smoky bars and restaurants.

That’s not fog, that’s smoke from the Canadien wild fires in Alberta Provence. A cold front has come through with rain which will knock it down later today. Word is I’ll drive through a strong blanket tomorrow morning and then into the clear. Time will tell.

I’ll end it here. I have a nice fire going to knock the chill down, I’ll spend the day doing some planning and reading. as the song goes, “it’s good to warm my bones beside the fire”.

Hope that brings a smile to your face…..

So, until next time, somewhere in northern Minnesota…Peace.
