You need to come to your senses….

I’ve never been a person who can sit still for very long, I’ve got to keep moving. When I wasn’t working, for like real (money), I always had something going on in the shop or in the woods. I had to keep moving. This trip is about moving, moving around a lot. I have a very long distance to travel but there is a deeper meaning to this trip. Finding my senses. I guess they say we have 5 senses, touch, hear, see, taste, and smell. I’ll try to do a better job learning and using my senses. I guess some think I’ve lost my senses but I’ll let that pass by for now.

Where are you at?

Today finds me deep in the forest at a very remote campsite in the Chippewa National Forest in north-central Minnesota. What a beautiful natural preserve, just one of the many our Nation and its people must protect and preserve.

The drive over was very straight, and flat, with no vehicle traffic to speak of. In short, a great day on the road. The drive into the portion I’m currently in was a bit rough but well worth the drive.

Now, back to learning and using my senses. I know that we all have the realization of our daily life, pretty much always on the go, seeing, hearing, tasting the same thing. That same-old becomes lost in life’s daily ritual.

I slept last night to blissful silence short of an owl somewhere nearby. I heard the loons calling several times late and early this morning. The woodpeckers have been very busy since early morning, an echo of them busily rapping in their search of their daily substance. As I sit drinking my morning cup of Joe, the breeze is rustling the trees making the most calming sound. The wonderful smell the forest emanates heightens my love of the forest. The lake I overlook makes me appreciate the views these national treasures provide. I hope the view provides a slight bit of reprieve to your day.

Relax…

I hope this inspires you to slow down, seek out and enjoy the many things around you that heightens your senses. I also hope that you may be inspired to someday slow down and enjoy the many natural wonders that this big beautiful planet provides us.

Tomorrow I head northwest to the northeast corner of North Dakota for a weekend slowdown at a wonderful State park. Until next time my friends….Peace.

  2. This is exactly why I love escaping into nature! I just took a video on a hike a few weeks ago while Josh and I were camping in a huge open prairie. Listening to all the different birds was incredible!
