I only made it 37 miles….

Almost Heaven, Northwest Territories??
It was old Henry Deutschendorf, Jr. (John Denver) that made the song Take Me Home, Country Roads famous. Guess I’ll put my spin on it and say take me to the Yukon and Northwest Territories. It took 3 1/2 hours to go that 37 miles, and when I reached this point I said I just need to stop and take it in for the remainder of the day.

This is a still image looking northeast, but a panoramic image would create awe. I can say after 30 days on the road, this was the first day taking pictures made sense. I had no wind, sun shining, no smoke, beautiful clouds in the sky….nice!

The roads go on forever
The Dempster is 500 some miles of unpaved bliss. They may be rough in places but I’m not complaining.

Lunchtime with the birds…

80 miles in…470 to go.
At this pace winter will set in before I reach my ultimate destination. Speaking of winter…

My destination is Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories. I hope to be there by the weekend, or, someday next week at the speed I’m going. Judging by the weather it be best to not rush. I am going to cherish every moment on this road, I have about 4 weeks to use before needing to be in Fairbanks, Alaska. You can be sure I will not rush, there will be many more 37 mile days. And when I see a place to pull in and call it a day and just suck fresh air and enjoy incredible views, that is what I will do.
So, that’s it for now. Hope I don’t overload followers with posts, but this is what the trip was about. There will be many more posts over the next week or more as I enjoy my slow ride north…
All my best and thanks for taking your precious time. Till next time…Peace!
